In the beginning was
An 18th-century manor house facing the lake in a protected village. Once a family holiday home, it had to be redesigned to suit the lifestyle of its new occupants. It’s a place where the owner still has vivid childhood memories that she doesn’t want to erase.

Our approach
Enable the family to make the house their own in a different way while maintaining continuity with the happy history of this family home.

From concept to implementation

  • Redistributing the rooms to suit the lifestyle of a young couple with two children. The large hallway became the kitchen, and new bathrooms took the place of bedrooms. These rooms have changed identity and function.
  • Bringing in light was a key consideration, with particular attention paid to the selection of subtle hues that would complement the gentle glow of the lakeside.
  • Work on simple, no-frills lines. All the while keeping in mind the idea of continuity.
  • The character features, in particular the parquet floors and mouldings, have been restored and brought to the fore.
