In the beginning was
A house to be built on one of the last building plots in the centre of a protected village.

Our approach
To blend in with the heritage while giving it the appeal of a contemporary house. Our aim is to be non-invasive and to build with an ecological approach.

From concept to completion

  • The choice of a timber construction to combine respect for history with the needs of the present day. The larch wood in the new building has a patina over time and turns grey naturally, blending into the surrounding mineral landscape.
  • This village house is oriented towards light and nature.
  • A discreet installation. The size, openings and relationship to the garden were determined through an analysis of the surrounding houses, in collaboration with monument and site experts.
  • A concern for the environment: building a timber-frame house means faster assembly, with a smaller carbon footprint. For heating, we chose a geothermal heat pump.
